A Living Magazine - Day 20 - Our Daily Bread, and Forgive? - Part 1

Upon waking, I felt pretty good. Surely, some improvement to the situation would come today! I packed up and noticed a billion ants in my popcorn. I carefully walked it away to a clearing and dumped it out, wishing I could give them a good movie to watch with it.

On my way down Cypress, I passed the cemetery I'd seen each morning, but this time it was open. I had a few hours before the library opened so I ducked in. I like monumental architecture, and also to see the more unusual memorials and stones. In this place, practically all the graves had bronze plaques. I'd never really noticed how they were kept down until this day. There is a round seal-like thing that screws down and the turns to click into place. Maybe this makes exhumation easier? I don't know.

There won't be any pictures from this afternoon, because of the devolution of the day. But, for now, this was a nice stroll...

Interesting which line was highlighted by someone.

For my Grandmothers.

Boys, and...

Girls.

Cool. If there only could be an equation for time.

This sundial was my favorite thing.

This guy looks like Poseidon or Neptune, is supposed to be God (I think?),
but I couldn't figure out why he was wearing a backpack... Oh, the mysteries of life!

One line: "Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies..." Yes.

Most of the couples had this between their names.
I can think of some instances where this would be a frightening prospect.

I liked this personalization--with the trombone and the three dogs.

OK, so that was something different from the usual routine. My feet knew the way to the library, all the crosswalk lights, all the stores along the way, all the likely characters I might meet. I found this plant along the river path. I'd swear it was some kind of pomegranate. It's a small bush though, not a tree. I broke a fruit open and it was light green, with white seeds. Anyone want to venture a guess what it is?

Strangely, the library parking lot was empty of other vagrants like myself. I looked at the date on my watch.. Ah, yes, probably SNAP (EBT), or welfare, got deposited. I walked into the building feeling a bit self conscious; being the only one with a backpack. That wouldn't last long. The place would soon be filled with giddy poor people.

  1. Well done! That is indeed a pomegranate. The fruit was not ripe yet hence the white seeds. Give it another month or two and the seeds will be red. Pomegranate trees will start to fruit fairly young and if not trimmed will look/grow like a bush and bear fruit close to the ground. Actually I think it is a shrub rather than a tree. And there you have it!

    1. Wow! I missed this. Strange to have a pomegranate on such a small bush! Love it! I will look at this as a possible Maine tropical harvest!
