A Living Magazine - Day 56 - City On The River

I was up and downtown within an hour of waking at 5:30 am. It was a good sleep.

I bought my coffee at Starbucks, but didn't stay long. The day before had been all writing. I needed a break, so I decided that it was time to really begin exploring the city. This post will be mostly pictures. There was a lot to see, and I wore out the batteries trying to capture every interesting detail.

I want to remind readers that these blog photos are always available to use for my Facebook friends, even as for-profit images (please just make an attribution). There are an awful lot of them to use, so have a ball! Also, friend me at Facebook, if your haven't already. Now on to the photo extravaganza of Portland, Oregon!

PORTLAND
CITY ON THE RIVER

Washington Park - Reservoir 1.

A fountain that has a very musical dripping sound when water hits the large bowl.

Firemen's memorial. Dedicated to the chief who died protecting his men.

Salesman said, "Choose one."

My turn onto 10th Street.

Neat waterfall for kids to play in.

This good boy greeted people with his sad face all day as they walked by.

Fish at Tanner Springs Park.

Up north in Old China Town. I wanted to see the Classical Chinese Garden, but it cost $9.50!

And around Union Station.

There are outlets all over the city (in various conditions).

Along the riverfront.

I was at the star.

This girl knew exactly what she wanted and how to get it.

Absolutely packed Portland Saturday Market.

Ah, young love.

One of the impromptu homeless camps.

Something completely different.

Found this guy crawling up my leg. The body was a half inch long.

Very cool fountain. This woman wanted to pose for me, but her boyfriend got annoyed. Ha!!

River boat.

This town has the best graffiti!

Segway parade.

Hadn't been back to the southern part of the city since the second day, so I walked down.

Near where I first slept, or rather swam.

It took a while to get back to Burnside. And I knew there was a Goodwill there. Over the last few days I had decided that it was time to donate my walking stick. In the first journey I used it every day. It is iconic to me and is even in my logo. But, on this journey I haven't used it at all. All it was doing now was drawing attention to me.

It is a little bit sad to see it go. I hope someone finds it useful...

Goodbye old friend...

After this day filled with photo moments, I was pooped and headed back to Washington Park for the night. On the walk into it I heard music again, but I was a bit late and they were packing up by the time I got all the way up to the rose garden.

It was easy to slip into my nesting area, which was waiting for me just as it had been when I left it. The tarp went down, the sleeping bag went down, and I went down for the count. It was a good day. I fell asleep easily.
