This is actually the first time I remember seeing a tower crane in Portland.

This will be an apartment building. Joe's Smoke Shop (a Portland landmark)

had to vacate it's spot, but will be back to occupy part of the first floor, when the building is done.

Congress Street.

The Arts District (Congress and High). Congress Square is at the far left above, and the

State Theater is shown below. I used to have an office at that palladian window right above the sign.

The Time and Temperature Building.

I used to work on the ninth floor.

Monument Square.

Next to the Time and Temperature Building and across from the monument is the

Fidelity Trust Company Building. It was formerly Maine Bank and Trust

and now holds People's United, my bank. Amazingly, it was bought by

Joseph Soley, one of the most notorious landlords in Maine, for a meager $5.6 million.

Ah, the Nickelodeon Cinema. When I left it was still playing art and indie films.

I guess they've gone back to commercial films. Love to see one, but alas...
