A Living Magazine - Day 85 - Still Searching For A Nest

I noticed a guy up on the hill looking down toward my location. There is a frisbee golf course and park right up on that hill. I had trash to throw out and thought there would be a trash can up there, so I packed up and took the short path up the hill right by the bridge...

I threw my trash out in a dumpster by the parking lot. It was a nice park. Apparently, it had just become a frisbee golf course, and this improved the park.

I went back down to the creek and decided to poke around a bit more. Maybe I could find a place that no one would jog near, and no one would be able to see from the hills. It was on the way out of the creek area that I found a place right along the edge of the path...

Obviously somebody had stayed near here. I saw her underwear and bras hanging up. I examined her site more carefully and found a small Chinese petticoat, and size five shoes. There were also three bags of trash, never removed by this woman. I had the feeling it had been along time since her spot was used. In the photo above I'm actually looking from what would be my new spot--I just didn't realize it yet. I climbed back up the embankment and made a mental note to get back there that night. following the small path until it led to the road out, I saw this little den...

I walked down town...

Memorial for a woman who was hit and killed on Monroe.

A great little Jazz trio near the fountain in the park.

I walked to the library and published a post, still leaving me behind by one. I kept feeling like there was more to see, and left again to try and capture park images I didn't have yet...

Classic IMAXX, with a five story theater.

This is the basalt I spoke of a few posts back. It was taken from a quarry nearby and is part of the motif of Spokane. They have many like these large pieces in each rest area, even out by the creek where I sleep...

Another view of the Lower Falls Park.

And this formation is pretty amazing.

The Washington Street Bridge.

Visiting Canada Island again, I think I saw the same squirrel I'd seen a couple days before, unless all of Spokane's squirrels crawl around (rather than walk and hop). And, this guy looked old. I took a video too, but it is being worked into a larger video presentation...

See how he walks on the flat part of his back legs?

A totem pole I'd missed.

I returned back over the Howard Street Bridge...

I had never seen this little "train" before. It passed by with a middle aged couple riding happily along...

Even though I'm not a native, I could tell the difference in the trees from only the last two weeks. Autumn was fast approaching...

I spent a bit of time working on the park's free daily 45 minute Wi-Fi, then headed back to the creek...

The Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, on Riverside, has an hourly chime too.

Riverside.

I didn't notice the lady bug who crawled off onto the sidewalk last time.

I remain super impressed by this artist, Lisa Soranaka, who also does some incredibly elaborate ceramic pieces of sculpture and pottery. The City of Spokane's Spokane Arts should be very proud of their efforts to exploit public spaces with the work of local artists. They have been very successful with it...

I reached the big brown Presbyterian Church that I passed every day and wanted to finally get some daytime shots...

As approached from Cedar Street, with a bit of stained glass window repair going on.

The building's in rough shape. I imagined what kinds of little nooks and crannies - what secret passageways - might lurk inside it.

Passing by McDonald's, I picked up my meal for the day--a cheeseburger and a drink. That left me $10.00 for the next two days.

I ate my dinner as I walked to the creek. And, when I got to the new spot I likes, I spent a long time just thinking about how it could be improved, while I took a couple additional shots, starting with the woman's spot. The light was fading, so they are bit blurry...

Size 6 Chinese petticoat.

Sunset clouds pass over.

The place I was interested was not the same as the woman's, but rather slightly more hidden and close by. It was really rough, but had possibilities. Some rocks would have to be excavated and the rotten branches removed, along with other work. It was too late to do it tonight.

I ended up heading back to the second (my most commonly used) spot and bedded down for the night. I fell asleep early again.
