Instead, due to several emailed questions about the term, "the Spark", I've decided to fill in today's post with an essay on the Spark concept, one which I've used many times to describe a leading within me to be doing what I'm doing. I apologize for not having the multimedia presentations that I usually post. They will begin to reappear in the next post.
The following is a bit dry and involves concepts that are somewhat difficult of understanding, and are presented from my personal perspective and belief system. I hope they are taken that way, or simply as fiction if that is easier for the reader to get behind. Nevertheless, I think it's important to give some idea about why the Spark concept has been so significant in my mind and on these journeys.

THE SPARK
I have, since a very young age, felt a presence in my mind that helps direct me. Throughout my life, this presence has grown in influence. Its leading is part of the reason why I have changed my life and why I decided to leave Maine in the first place.
From the early part of the first journey (please see the Manifest Destiny posts--HERE) it is alluded to, though the future book will go into more detail, I began to realize that this presence was unfolding into a contactable entity within me. I truly believe that my now-common familiarity with this entity - which I officially named the "Spark" - would not have occurred as effectively without making the will decision to push forward with these journeys, and this overall project of living simply and reporting about what see going on around the country.
There are other aspects to the relationship that has formed between the Spark and myself. I mentioned them much more frequently near the end of the Manifest Destiny journey, but have held back some of this information of this current journey.
Those who have asked about the Spark are generally not familiar with my descriptions of it from the last journey. I have also received inquiries about my "faith". For these (and since they are related to the Spark), I would encourage folks to check out this post from the last journey: "Manifest Destiny: America from the Bottom Up - 50 - Branson, MO - Clarifying the Philosophy". My world view is always a work in progress, but I still feel the same way I did when I wrote that linked post.
What I want to do today is go into detail about what I think the Spark actually IS...
We, as human beings, can hardly grasp concepts like eternity and infinity. But, whether we like it or not, these things exist--even if just intellectually. Yet, I believe they are physical/spiritual reality frames of reference. I see eternity as a cork-screw-like cycle that never ends. Eternity may be thought of in this context as "infinite time". We can only truly comprehend things that have beginnings and endings, causes and effects. But on ultimate levels of reality time and space are absent. Things work in a different way there.
Well, somewhere along this cycle, in a time before time, there was only the essence of what I will call a pre-personal "First Source and Center" of all reality. You can think of this as absolute perfection, existing in every way and throughout all space and time as an unbroken symmetry. In fact, it is still there and always will be. This "somewhere" is called "an eternity moment".
From this absolute, "arose" an absolute Personality--the Original Person. And, because personality has will, where pre-personal reality does not, that Original Person was/is/will-be able to dominate and encompass all other absolutes. The Original Person only knew absolute perfection--the perfect, but desired to know what it would be like to become perfected. This required other personalities.
At this "eternity moment", by self realization - metaphorically, looking in the mirror - the will for self-understanding caused the Second Source and Center to "arise". The Original Person gave personality to this Second Person. Together, by their action and simultaneous will decisions to build a universe filled with other beings, the Third Source and Center "arose".
The Original Person delegated co-infinite power to the other two Persons. This was the mathematical maximum of personalities needed to form a kind of infinite and eternal family unit, who would be equal in infinite status. They represented (respectively): the Thought (Original Person), Word (Second Person) and Action (Third Person) needed to express all future creative prerogatives and persons.
At the same "eternity moment" that all of this was occurring, a Central Universe of perfect beings, with a physical "place" "emerged". Please bear in mind that these things never "actually" happened; they have always been. But I discuss this in terms of a process so that we can better understand the prerequisites needed for our spacetime realms to thus come into being.
Within this Central Place of existential perfection, the Original Person (and Its two co-Persons) was able to experience a family of other beings (persons) who were sub-infinite. But the plan for perfecting new kinds of beings who had not always existed still needed to be initiated. This was the metaphorical "big bang" that created all the starry realms we study and are part of; the imperfection of time and space, strewn with inhabited worlds, filled with beings who had evolved from one celled organisms into conscious, sentient humans.
With the natural evolution of a kind of material animal, intelligent enough to recognize that he/she was connected to higher, spiritual forces--becoming self and universe-aware, came the potential for building an immortal part within these humans. It would be a part that would enable their individual consciousnesses to actually survive the material process of physiological death, and thus ascend all the way back in to the Center of All Things. This allowed the Original Person (and Its two co-Creators) to add the import of experientially perfected beings to the family that had only been existentially perfect in the Perfect Central Place--the "Center of Infinity".
The Sparks were the mechanism by which humans could build a soul identity that could survive material death. The Sparks are actual fragments made of the essence of the First Source and Center--divided and distributed out to spacetime humans, before it had become the Original Person. Just like the situation in the "eternity moment" discussed above, the human personality is able to have dominion over this primal, pre-personal Spark, yet also be able to be led - as needed - by its infinite store of knowledge.
The Sparks enter the minds of ALL human beings at an early age; there, they work with the human will to build an eternal component, or counterpart (the soul), which is then able to survive death and ascend through many levels of reality on its quest back to the Center--the place where its individual Spark came from.
The idea is that the Spark is a portal in the human mind connecting to the mind of the Original Person, and desperately wants to become "personalized". On the other hand most flesh and blood human beings desire to live on after the material life on earth, and the Spark provides the mechanism by which that can be accomplished. Eventually all who choose this eternal existence will fuse with the Spark.
The Spark is not a person. It is an entity, more like an ultimate and perfect computer or similar tool that human beings can utilize, get to know, work with and eventually (whether in this life or the next) actually become one with. However, even though the Spark has no personality of its own--wanting to adopt ours, it does project the WILL of the Original Person, for the benefit of its human host through out the human lifetime.
To commune with the Spark, one must simply interpret what the Spark wills and then make will decisions that are in line with what would be preferred by the more perfect and ultimate reality that the Spark is constantly transmitting. When we make choices that are in line with the Spark's will, we patch together another piece of own eternal soul.
With the repetition of human will choices that are aligned with the Spark's will, the process of communion with the Spark, and the practical benefits derived therefrom, becomes an easier and easier thing to recognize and build upon.
For me, personally, the will-choice of walking out through those heavy doors of North Station in Boston on October 23, 2014, removed the last barrier to a truly direct form of interaction between the Spark and myself. I felt brightened; empowered in a way that I'd never felt before. It was as if a light went on in and around me, illuminating all that I saw--and much that I'd not seen before, giving me a special insight into the people and events that would come along on that journey, and subsequently on this one as well.
On the Manifest Destiny journey, I believed (as I discussed in "A Living Magazine - Day 22 - Super-But-Natural" post) that an "unseen companion" also walked with me most of the way from Maine to California--in liaison with the Spark. But I also believe that my will decision to do this present journey constituted an acceptance that I would be on my own this time, with only the Spark as my companion. I had graduated, in a sense, through my Manifest Destiny experience, into a more capable journeyer.
Though all of this inner spiritual and intuitive stuff has been a constant experience for me, I feel that, in this journey, the Spark relationship is more of a personal spiritual experience now. There are many public associations that I still think of (the "New Advent" discussed in the last linked post above comes to mind), but I have intuited that there will be more judicial times and ways to present information about such events than simply blurting them out (as I did in the last journey) in blog posts. There is some greater lesson plan that I am involved with this time.
I hope some of this goes a way toward explaining what the Spark is to me and how it fits into my world view, its relevance for these journeys, and possibly even provides a way for you to find the Spark in yourself (or whatever you might call it), if such a thing does even exist.
So, the obvious next question would be: Where did I get all these crazy notions in the first place?
The answer is complicated. Primarily, they stem from a long-held Cosmic Philosophy (explained to some extent in: "Manifest Destiny: America from the Bottom Up - 84 - Phoenix, AZ - Pilgrims of Time"). I share this philosophy with most of the people I have visited on these last two journeys.
Everyone has a belief system of some kind. This is mine. I'm happy to talk more about this if people want to comment on this post or write me personally through email or a Facebook PM.

I finished my work downtown and headed back to the creek at 5:00 pm. When I arrived at the new camping spot, I went to work on it in earnest, transforming it into the semi-permanent "home" I will use until I leave Spokane. Pictures in the next post will illustrate what I did in this respect.
When I'd exhausted myself with nest building, I rolled out the sleeping bag on top of the thick laundry bag--under the foot end of the sleeping bag, and used my rain coat as the pad on the ground for the head end.
I fell asleep and slept well again.
What you say "makes sense" to me. Thank you, Alex.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we share this. When the Sparks and their humans are *consciously* aware of our common spiritual bond, we can do an enormous amount of work for goodness in this world. Beside your kindness and love, that is why I'm excited and honored to know you and be your friend.
DeleteMe too, you. (saw you on -another website- and put up a few videos you may like too, depending on your battery holding out)
